Post card from the road: Colorful canopy of paper lanterns

Day 62, South East Asia, March – May 2013
Day 1, Seoul, S. Korea

” A sky full of ” colorful paper lanterns in the courtyard of Heungryunsa temple, a representative temple of Icheon. These canopy of colorful lanterns are seen throughout S. Korea and usually put on before the eve of Buddha’s birthday in celebration of Buddha’s birthday.

The Buddha’s birthday celebration is shared in many Asian countries that observe/practice Buddhism during the month of May annually.

I wished my photography skill could have captured the mood and feeling that I felt when looking at the blue sky through these canopy of colorful lanterns. I might have missed Buddha’s birthday celebration at the temple but the well wish of these colorful lanterns seems to linger beyond the Buddha’s birthday celebration.
