Day 2, Central America trip, Dec 2012
Antigua city, Guatemala Day 2
My stay at The Black Cat hostel included a hearty breakfast but that’s still left me to manage both my own lunch and dinner. Prior to my Central America trip, I had gotten into the habit of eating healthier with just simple wholesome ingredients for a total healthy body make-over with the intention to make it a lifelong practice. Therefore, with just a few days on the road eating irregular meals at odd hours have left me wanting my own cooking. The Black Cat hostel do not have a shared kitchen so making my own food would be a challenge so it had to be some thing simple, quick and easy.
I shopped at La Bodegana supermarket
Thanks God for a brother. I specifically asked for a multi unit with a “cork opener” (eehhhhkkk) for the trip and he gladly fulfilled. I couldn’t have survived this many days on the road without his gifted Swiss army knife. Best item brought on the trip and most uses, ever!
The final product. I was able to made 3 similar in size sandwiches from this purchase. Still have at-least 1/3 of the ham left saved for a later meal when I got to San Pedro in the next day.
Total bill: $27.76 Q /$4.28 USD for 3 sandwich. That’s under $1.50 USD for a sandwich. That’s not bad at all.
- Ham: 16.71 Q
- Baguette: 3.95 Q
- Cucumber: 1.95 Q
- Plastic bag charge: 0.20 Q
Total: $27.76 Q /$4.28 USD (for about 3, 6 inches subs)
What do you think of my make shift sandwich?
